Sega RingEdge.....?

So it's speculated that Sega is releasing a new console titled "The RingEdge" after Sega of Japan patened the name for next-gen hardware. Does anyone think that this is going to be a dream come true or a nasty little rumor?

I don't know, even if Sega did reenter the console wars, they're so drastically different now from where they were in the past that I'm not sure it'd make a huge difference for me.

Both, I've been on my knees ever since the announcement of RingWide (The arcade platform) and RingeEdge (The supposed home platform version of RingWide) along with all of the other recent home controller and portable data storage card patents in the last year.

I'm not going to take any leaps of faith on a new console, but if it were to happen I'll put down a pre-order on two the second I can.

Yup, Sega-Sammy just lost so much of the traditional Sega magic, then again a new Jet Set Radio or Shenmue title would instantly make me crap my pants in joy.

I am not such a sega fanboy that I would buy any console with their name on it (no offense guys). But I would be interested in what Sega would bring to the table. I am not going to judge it (or believe it) till I see it.

Agreed Dylan, I'm really curious as to what titles they would put out and how would they be. I mean looking at their latest software makes me iffy about it. But like Mod Man Extreme said a new shemue, or jet grind radio would be ace......if done right...ahem*SONIC*ahem. If this isn't a myth then let's cross our fingers that they won't fuck up other great sega titles like our beloved blue friend.

It's probably just going to be an arcade cabinet. The only hope it might be a console is because Sega got patents in the US for it. But I think if anything it would be a powerful handheld or Phone. There is just not enough room for another console. I personally don't want there to be another videogame crash. If it is s console I am sure the games would be better then what there are releasing now. They don't have to make systems sellers anymore but if they make there own console the 1st party stuff would have to be top notch to sale the console.

Yeah, it came out, but it was released in the UK only as far as I've seen. I'll have to hit up one of our UK members one of these days whenever I've got the cash for it and shipping to see if I could possibly get one.
