Beats of Rage

Post by V3rtigo »

I finally picked up a dreamcast so that I could explore the Beats of Rage mods. I've been reading about it but it's still a little confusing to me. So, here's a few questions for those who have experience with it.

Do I need to mod my DC to play BoR games? If so, a specific mod?
Is there a complete list of relatively-bug-free games?
Sell or burn? Does anyone sell nicely printed CDs or just make my own?
Anyone have any experience with the simpsons arcade, tmnt arcade, and xmen arcade versions?

No.
Yes. http://www.lavalit.com/ You will need to sign up to take full advantage.
Burn as far as I know.
X-men port is OK. I haven't tried the others.

BOR is all new to me. I'm all in for playing X-Men arcade and The Simpsons arcade on the DC.

I'm reading the wiki page, any other tips?

You will find everything you need in the lavalit forums. It is pretty comprehensive.

Did that guy ever finish his four player Aliens vs Predator BOR mod for the Dreamcast? Id scan the forums but they are blocked here at work.

I see a demo for an Aliens vs. Predator mod but that is all. I didn't dig deep though so who knows. I haven't been to the site in a while and a lot of the older complete mods seem to be gone and there are some new potentially interesting choices.

Its probably the same demo I already have. Shame, that was going to be a killer game. Kinda like the Castlevania beatemup with Nocturne sprites.

Some ready to burn images can be found here:

http://www.dcevolution.net/

Look under "Collections"

Some of them contain multiple mods on one disk as well.

I've never even heard of this before... Is it like a MAME emu for the Dreamcast?

*So it seems more like MUGEN for the Dreamcast, but with the beat em up genre. Seems interesting.

someone will know more than i, but yes, sort of. there are emus for nes, gameboy, and sms. the rest is homebrew, basically taking existing games and chopping them up to make new games or copying existing games.
