7 Days RETURN.
30 Days Exchange and Guarantee.

For stuff such as the wrong game in the case either go to your local store or back to the one you bought it from. If you can't make it on that day at least look at the game's receipt for that store's number and call it to explain your situation and why you can't make it back that day along with calling your local store and explaining the same thing.

GS doesn't take "I got the wrong game in my case" lightly after a day or so has gone by unless you notify the stores immediately as it just looks like you're trying to scam a free game off of the company and we'll have to kick you out of the store.

yeah but I mean, it was the very next day, I had my receipt and I explained that the store I bought it from was 45 mins away and near my work. The game they gave me was Baden Katos Origins (easy mistake), so it seemed to me they could have called the other store and said "hey, we hava a receipt from this guy who bought BK yesterday, but got BKO instead. Can you check and see if you have BK instead of BKO in a sleeve?" and they'd see I wasn't lying.

Oh and I forgot the best part! When I asked for the manager to try to explain the situation to him, his solution was that I could buy the correct game from them and then just return the other one to the original store next time I'm in that area. Jerk.

Yessir, but my store will bend the rules for me.

True story, I once returned an opened DVD to Best Buy and got a full cash refund because I didn't like the movie. Hey, they're the one with a guarantee on satisfaction. This is one of the few exceptions where being nice doesn't get you anywhere.
We will too, with a little more pull on top of that for our regulars.

But when it comes getting the wrong game in your case it's an immediate call to GS or else we'll just ignore your plea and chuck you off to the store you bought it from unless you're a regular we know and trust.

I forgot to mention, the store has only been open about 2 months, and I've been in there at LEAST every other week.

This is where you ask to talk to their district manager and get waited on hand and foot.

But yeah, this is a situation where you really should call both stores as soon as you notice the wrong disc/no disc in the case etc....

That's probably why you got shafted.

GS managers hate unbalanced (Have disc, but no case etc) returns caused by accidents like this as it causes them to have to print cover art and generally make them work instead of sitting on their asses.

GS also charges stores $15 to ship an item (Overnight, 2-3 days) and that makes that store and it's manager look bad and if it happens enough times in a year begins affecting the manager's bonus.

I haven't bought any new games from GameStop but if I understand this thread, GameStop opens all new games and put the empty case on the shelf, correct?

Target/Walmart/KMart don't do this but they all have games behind a locked case, right? I think they do but I could be mistaken.

yeah the manager said it would mess up their inventory since they wouldn't have the right case for the game. So then I pointed out that pretty much every Gamecube game they had in the store was in a generic Gamestop-printed case. His response: :|

Not all, just some, the copies used for display. For most games, there will only be one. For newer or more popular titles, there may be 3 or 4 copies displayed. (So 3 or 4 open copies)

Gamestop is for poor 15 year olds who only get new games when they either trade something in, or have a birthday. Gamestop is also for 40+ moms who don't know anything about games, and 10- kids who don't know anything about games/don't care how much their parents spend. Gamestop is also for people who hate gamestop, but go there anyway (see racketboy posts on gamestop). By catering to these groups, they do good business, and see no reason to change it.

My solution is to never enter a gamestop. The last thing I purchased at one was megaman collection for ps2. I left and realized he had not put the disc in the case. When I got home and went to peel the price sticker off, I realized it had been placed directly on the paper cover, underneath the plastic. Since then I only go to play n trade, or best buy (which usually has better deals on brand new games than gamestop does on used ones)
