Paranormal Activity-SCARIEST.MOVIE.EVER
Holy shit I just came back from this, just wow. Anyone else see it yet? If you haven't yet and like horror movies this is a must see. Nightmares are going to flood my head tonight. I've seen a lot of horror movies but this one just was by far the scariest one I've ever seen.
Re: Paranormal Activity-SCARIEST.MOVIE.EVER
I heard to polar opinions of this movie. Either it was the scariest movie of all time or it was totally mehh. Perhaps it has to do with belief in the paranormal?
Ive heard it compared to this generations blair witch project which got me wondering where the comparison came from. Is it because of the home video style film approach or because of something lame like you never actually get to see the "villian" or what. Any chance you can shed some light without spoiling parts of the movie?

I just got home from seeing it!
It was definitely a good movie in my opinion. My wife is still shaking, no joke. She is trembling in fear and probably won't sleep for a week. It had some very unnerving scenes that succeed in making one feel very uncomfortable in their own home, be it night or day.
I can see the comparisons to Blair Witch, but this film was ultimately more interesting and enjoyable. I actually liked the Blair Witch, so that shows you how I felt about Paranormal Activity.
Also, I would suggest watching it in the theater, because half of my enjoyment was witnessing other peoples reactions!

I caught one of the midnight showings last night with my girlfriend after hearing about it from a few friends. It's really well done for a low budget horror movie (I think it had something like an 11k budget) and it was definitely something that stuck with me after I had left the theater. I didn't have any big expectations of it going in aside from the Blair Witch and Cloverfield feel of the trailer, so it was really a nice surprise. I'd recommend checking it out while it's still in theaters, because it does add something to the experience seeing it there.

Re: Paranormal Activity-SCARIEST.MOVIE.EVER
I didnt like it. I wasnt scared at all. And EVERY movie scares me! I scream out loud in theaters and I was so pumped for this. But it wasnt believable to me at all. I was able to predict every step of the movie and what would happen next. I was pretty disappointed. Maybe cause the format has been done too much and I know its not real. No, cause even movies I know arent real scare me more. I dont know but I actually got my money back and I've never done that before.
PS blair witch scared the crap out of me so I dont know what happened with this one.

Put me on the totally meh side of the group (although I think "meh" should be retired for a while). Spoiler alert! If they put the camera on and it sits there for a minute, something is about to happen.toredauei wrote:I heard to polar opinions of this movie. I am interested in the other endings, and why they chose the one they did.

I saw this film last week and I was totally freaked out. I guess you have to use your imagination a little and get in the zone to watch this. I even heard a girl sitting behind me crying toward the end of the film. Scariest film I have seen since I have been an adult.
Re: Paranormal Activity-SCARIEST.MOVIE.EVER
I think some of the scariest movies of all time are when you can't see what you fear. That movie was a perfect example of that. Some people may get turned off by the handheld recorder aspect, but I think it fit the movie perfectly.
Re: Paranormal Activity-SCARIEST.MOVIE.EVER
I didn't have a problem with the hand held camera, I had a problem with the pacing of the movie. Other people in the theater I saw it at obviously had the same problem. Lots of people whispering, checking their watches/cellphones, leaving to go to the bathroom and get concessions in the middle of the film.
It definitely is a like it or lump it movie. If you do like it, check out the other endings.

Apparently from what I read, Spielberg wanted that ending, hence why they went with it.
Haven't seen it...Heck, hadn't heard of it until last night.
