Motorstorm: Arctic Edge

Post by dsheinem »

I'm a big fan of the PS3 Motorstorm games, and was really nervous about how well the hallmarks of the series would transfer to the small screen. While I've enjoyed some racers on the system in the past (the Wipeout games and Burnout Legends come to mind), handheld racing has a history of being quite hit and miss. The tepid reviews of Gran Turismo PSP (which I have yet to try) made me even more cautious about how this would fare...

Luckily, my misgivings were unfounded. This game rocks! It immediately enters the conversation for best handheld racer EVER, as the framerate, graphics, tracks, depth, and overall of level of fun is all at the same level of quality as it's HD siblings. If you're looking for a good PSP racer that pushes the system and provides hours of enjoyment, I'd recommend giving it a go. If you have a PS3 and haven't picked up the other Motorstorm games, go get them too! If you are still stuck with a PS2, Arctic Edge is coming for that too later this month.

I'm playing it right now and I must say its pretty badass. Its just as good as its PS3 entries. Its amazing how much detail they were able to keep in its travel to the small screen. I may have to pick this up for the PS2 as well!

Awesome game. Custom soundtracks are a pain to get going but well worth it. Bought the first PS3 game after playing this a few days. Should arrive tomorrow.

I don't own a PS3 yet, so I've been waiting for this one on the PS2. Hopefully, it sports a solid framerate and looks decent enough to hold me until I'm ready to drop the 3 bills (on a PS3)

Same here. The PS2 is on its last legs, but it always makes me happy to see it manage to kick out a few more good releases on its dying breaths. Persona 4 may have been its swan song, but Arctic Edge and the new Jak & Daxter are just a few more good reasons not to pull the plug on your aging PS2 yet. I have a hard time justifying buying a PS3 or XBox360 simply because I have a giant backlog of excellent PS2 games that I haven't finished yet.
