As a kid and a teenager, I absolutely loved going to theme parks like Cedar Point, Disney World, and Six Flags. I've always been a big roller coaster fan and have done all but the very newest coasters at Cedar Point (one of the best coaster places in the US) many times.
However, now, as much as I enjoy the rides, I just don't want to go anymore because I can't stand waiting in long lines anymore -- especially when it gets hot outside.
My wife is a high-school band teacher and is taking her students on a trip to Cedar Point in a couple weeks and she kinda wants me to go with her. I kinda have mixed feelings about it because of the long drive (from Mid-Michigan) and the reasons mentioned above.
At the same time, I'm thinking that maybe we'll just take it easy when we are there, only going on the rides with shorter lines and maybe spend more time just enjoying the atmosphere.
Does this sound like I'm getting old or what?
What are your thoughts on this dilemma?

I am lucky in that my favorite ride at Sixflags over Georgia, is usually everyones least favorite. Good old Mine Train. I have a similar sentiment about lines, but that is because they are wasted time. Granted if you go with a good group of friends it can be quite entertaining. I have decided that next time I do go, I am going to try and get a group to play an rpg while we wait in line. I mean we might aswell kill two birds with one stone, or die as the case may be.

i hate theme parks. well not all of them. its weird. its actually starting to be reverse for me. i want to go back to a few of them and see how it is with my fiancee. and dude, i hate lines. if i go to say a place like golden spoon and there is more than three people in a line i will go somewhere else. its funny because im patient when it comes to a lot of other things, really just about everything else. but there are two theme parks i love and always have because they are different from the rest. and thats sea world, and universal studios. i went to sea world like 5 months ago and i want to go back in a few weeks. i had free tickets that day and still dropped over a few hundred dollards on souvenirs. including one of the biggest glass cups i have ever seen. i think you should go with your wife and those high school kids and make the best of it. i mean if you think negative before you even get there then thats what its going to be. the experience you will have is one that you will make it.

I seriously dislike queues. But with some good pockets I think you could take some handheld, play it on the queue, then fasten it inside the pocket during the ride. That should help a lot.
