Sega CD Model 1 or 2? Which to choose?

Post by Lo0kY »

I been in search for a Sega CD system and build a huge library of games for it, but been confused on which to choose. Model 1 is just pretty badass, and model 2 just... meh.

I dont have one personally, but, Model 2s are much easier to find I think and would probably be cheaper. And I hear that the Model 1 disc tray is prone to breaking more than the toploading Model 2. But that goes with a lot of ejecting disc tray stuff ^_^

Model one is pure sexy, but if your gaming I would recommend a model two.
I pull my model one out once in awhile but they are more prone to breaking, and mine makes some crunchy noises when it opens so I'm sure it's a good sign.
Bottom line I'd only get a model one if you catch a decent deal.

Model is the Showpiece, Model 2 is the workhorse for all your regular gaming.

If you're playing it: Model 2
If you're collecting it: Model 1

EDIT: Grr, Modman you sneaked in right before I posted.

Yup, what Beta said.

Though I'd choose a model 2 for the same reason. I guess one other consideration is space. A model 2 makes it at big as a boat, a model 1 makes it a skyscraper.

*edit

Well crap, a whole bunch of people posted while I got distracted in the middle of writing my reply.

Model 2 is so easy to repair, but not near as smexy...

i have about 4 broken model 1's, and they are a pain to fix.

I was hoping you guys would recommend the Model 1 due to its smexyness.

Does the model 1 even break down under heavy gaming?
