Original Xbox Issues

Post by Incognito D »

I'm wondering about a couple of things and hopefully someone can help out.

First, my Xbox clock is dead. It needs to be re-set every time I power on. Is there an easy fix for this?

Secondly, can I rip music from burned CDs onto the Xbox? I want to move some music from my iTunes to use in a Project Gotham custom soundtrack.

thanks to anyone that can assist.

The only thing I can think of with the clock problem is, and correct me if I'm wrong, to replace the internal battery inside of it. It should be a watch battery, usually cr2032 or something like that.

As said above I think all you just need to open up the Xbox (I'm pretty sure you just need a Torx 10 screwdriver, but not sure on the size, think its 10) and replace the internal battery.

You cant put songs off a burnt CD-R but you can off a CDRW, so just buy yourself one if it means that much to you.

Close, its a Torx 20. There are 6 screws. 1 under each foot and 2 under labels.

Regarding the custom soundtracks from burnt discs, it depends on your drive.

Find out what drive you have then you will be better informed at what discs will and won't work. But to compound, CDRW seem to be the most compatible on all drives. Of course if you have a Samsung or Phillips drive you are laughing.

I can't recall the name of it right now., but there's a program for ftping music to the xbox so you can use them as soundtracks. Some googling or looking around on xbox-scene should bring it up. The files do need to be .wma for it though.

Thers is no battery in the Xbox. There is instead a capacitor which keeps the clock alive but it will only provide juice for a few hours while not plugged in. Another great MS design decission

Thanks for the correction man. I just thought it was with the battery cause I've "Accidentally" opened up a few game consoles and game packs.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I have the Thompson disc drive unfortunately :(

The thing about the transistor, does that mean you have to keep your xbox plugged in at the wall for most of the time just to keep the clock alive? screw that
