Retail establishments are the worst offenders, and I believe they are the driving force behind holiday creep.Snickerd00dle wrote:

Some of us enjoy going through the Easter and Christmas stuff to reach the Halloween candy. I still need to go to the hardware store and buy a discounted hammock...
This year all I really am looking at new is Super Mario. I hope to play it with my three brothers this Christmas just like we use to play Mario 1 as a team (well three of us did anyway). Considering the last time my oldest brother played a game was a one off in Halo and before that was Paperboy on the NES, well itll be a hard sell but I think itll be fun.
Oh and Phantasy Star Zero for the DS.

People by me have Christmas lights up, and it's not even Halloween yet...Snickerd00dle wrote:Limewater wrote:It's October.

This is why I don't understand you Gentiles. Who wants to go through all the trouble to put up and take down those decorations year after year?Reverend wrote:People by me have Christmas lights up, and it's not even Halloween yet...Snickerd00dle wrote:Limewater wrote:It's October.

As if all non-Jews have Christmas decorations.

... don't they?dlmvii wrote: As if all non-Jews have Christmas decorations.
Hell, my mom has a little tree that she decorates for every holiday. If it's July, it's got a bunch of patriotic stuff on it, if its April it's going to have a bunch of egg and bunny decorations, etc.
I live in the deep South, so seeing Halloween decorations is kinda rare as it is. No one wants anything to do with them devildy works.
Re: What games are you looking forward to this holiday season
Halloween isn't as celebrated in the south as it is in the north. It was one of the bigger differences that threw me when i went to Savannah for college. Kids from the college celebrated. No real decorations were up around town though. Some children got some candy early in the day, but that was pretty much it. In the north kids would start trick or treating/causing mischief from dusk sometimes until 1 or 2. And every kid did it. No exceptions.the7k wrote:I live in the deep South, so seeing Halloween decorations is kinda rare as it is. No one wants anything to do with them devildy works.
and... more on topic.
I just got more excited for dragon age. Note: I'm a sucker

it sucks too that most really good games aren't coming out till early next year, but that is holiday season too right? i mean if we start this early, why not end late
Re: What games are you looking forward to this holiday season
It's actually a good idea to sell games after the holidays. Think about it from the point of view of someone who receives a new console for the holidays.
"Hmm, now what should I get? I could just buy some old titles and play catch-up, but (insert title here) is coming out in a few weeks!"

Not really games. I'm looking forward to accessories. More specifically, arcade sticks. All of the scrubs who jumped on the fighting game band wagon because the media hyped the shit out of SF4, Blazblue and KOF XII will be ditching their sticks because they aren't willing to put in the time it takes to develop skill to compete in said genre. What games are you looking forward to this holiday season?
I'm already seeing hints of it - awesome arcade sticks going for half price on Craig's and in 2nd hand video game shops.
