I don't see what's wrong with that. I'm sick of people saying that games suck based on modern day standards. If you didn't play it back in the day then your opinion of the entire game is completely moot. It's like saying Ghostbusters sucks because the special FX aren't as good as the new Transformers films.ZeroAX wrote:Niode wrote: Let me guess, you didn't play it when it first came out? really mature.
I can't seem to force myself to be excited for the new Zelda

I wouldn't say I'm unexcited about the new Zelda, but more cautiously optimistic. The train is rather anachronistic for the Zelda world, so it will be interesting to see how they explain it.
Honestly, I really loved Twilight Princess. It was the best done 3D Zelda yet in my opinion, with some really epic boss battles. You cannot tell me that both hookshot bosses weren't awesome fights.
As for Phantom Hourglass, I felt it was a good game aside from the Temple of the Ocean King. I found the stylus controls easy to use and they made good use of the dual screens for the boss fights. But that damn temple with the forced stealth really pissed me off. Especially since you had to repeat so much of it each time. But it looks like Spirit Tracks fixes that, so no worries.

saying that one's opinion is nil.
and have you thought that the same could apply to you?

most retro games don't stand the test of time. just like most old movies, were slow, and the acting was of a lower standard. You can't judge a game (or movie) on it's looks and effects, but you can judge it on gameplay.

You do realise you are agreeing with me right? I'll just assume your post is for ironic emphasis.ZeroAX wrote:Niode wrote:

Niode sometime I think you like to start drama.
But I see you and him have a point. I love Zelda partly because of nostalgia. I wonder if I would like them if TP was the first one I played. I guess I will never know. I would like to assume I would though.

I'll probably end up buying the new Zelda simply because two of my son's favorite things happen to be trains and Zelda games. Not that I plan on playing it much. Phantom Hourglass left a bad taste in my mouth... mostly because of that damned Temple of the Ocean King.
I did recently complete Wind Waker, though, and I loved it. My problem is less with the "Cel-da" issue, and more with the fact that the first DS game was terribly redundant - more so than the usual Zelda fare, I mean - and the upcoming one doesn't seem likely to address that issue.

BAM! This is exactly what I was attempting to say.glynnahab wrote: My problem is less with the "Cel-da" issue, and more with the fact that the first DS game was terribly redundant - more so than the usual Zelda fare, I mean - and the upcoming one doesn't seem likely to address that issue.
I love Zelda games, but PH was boring as shmess and I'm terrified Spirit Tracks will be too.

Re: I can't seem to force myself to be excited for the new Zelda
I ablsolutely loved Twilight Princess. The dungeons and puzzles were stellar and it was longer than most recent Zelda games. That it followed the outline established by earlier games was what I liked about it. Yet it didn't overplay nostagia. The best example of that was the fact that you heard the original Zelda music motif just one time - when Link pulled the Master Sword out of the stone. Perfect.
Call me boring or a purist, but I disliked how different WW was. And all that goddamned fucking sailing around. Ugh. I did love the graphics, but I would like to have that style in a more traditional setting.
I didn't pick up PH because it seemed to be "casualized" to me. I should try it, though. I'm not excited about the new game because I simply don't play many handheld games. They just don't fit into the way I play games right now.

Well, there you have it. People who love Twilight Princess, love it because it's just another Zelda.
Those who don't like it, don't like it because it's just another Zelda.
Those who don't like it, and claim that they don't like it because it was too different from other entries, have actually grown tired of the series and yet their loyalty to the series prevents them from acknowledging this.

but the dude in the first place didn't talk about graphics. he had a problem with the camera. and since mario 64 had a perfect camera for me, I do think the camera angle can be judged by today's standards
