Your top five favorite games

Post by Abras »

I normally don't like to pick my "favorites", but a few months ago I actually plopped down and thought long and hard about my "favorite" video games. I'm actually pretty content with the list. They are (in no particular order; that would be too hard!):

StarCraft (PC)
Paper Mario (N64)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Soul Calibur (DC)
Jak 2 (PS2)

I was actually surprised at the diversity. I mean, each one is on a different system, and only two could really be considered the same genre (Jak 2, SMW), and even that's a bit of a stretch. I'm also happy with the choices, all of which I have spent countless hours playing and have beaten at least 3 times (maybe not a big deal for some of you, but it is for me)

So...think long and hard, and maybe describe why you like each particular game (something I didn't do...)

Also, sorry if there is a topic similar to this already. As most of you know, I am relatively new to this forum.

1. Legend of Zelda (NES) - A freeroaming game of this calibur was unheard of when it came out, and has yet to be matched in my eyes. Other games have tried, and a few have come close (Daggerfall), but nothing has taken the top spot from it. Ever since I first heard the music I was hooked.

2. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (PC) - Such an amazing game yet most gamers you talk to have never heard of it.

3. Super Mario Bros. 2/Doki Doki Panic (NES)
- Ok Im a softy for the game I figured out how to beat before the rest of my extended family, all thirty of them...

4. Final Fantasy (NES)
- Traditional D&D ruleset implemented in a videogame. And the first JRPG to actually keep my attention. Granted the Garland does have one of the best lines in all of gaming "I Garland Make You Fall Down."

5. Oregon Trail (PC)
- MECC 2.1 or Apple IIe version only - every public school student who grew up in the late 80s/early 90s knowns why. They actually let us kill on school grounds...

I'm new to so I'll post in this topic :) I almost forget how much I loved Starcrack. Soul Calibur was so fun day one! I always drown at Oregon Trail because class was to short and we couldn't save. Had to cross that damn river and fast!

1) Rez : Dreamcast/PS2

I ran a professional live video projection company for raves and clubs for 5 years. I currently am a touring electronic musician. This game was made for me. Sythesis of interactive media and art at its finest

2) Street Fighter 2 : World Warrior/CE (Arcade/SNES/Genesis)

So many awesome memories of 7-11's and arcades. I've played these 2 specific games more than any other game no doubt.

3) Nights into Dreams : Sega Saturn

Replayable for decades but so incerdibly simple. Nights in pure polish and style. Too bad the new one isn't on a graphic powerhouse, I really want to see Nightopia in Hi-Def. I lvoe my Wii, so please no flaming!

4) Guardian Heroes : Sega Saturn

6 Player adventure/fighting/RPG. Yeah thats about it.

5) Phantasy Star 2

My first real RPG. Nei I will never leave you behind again. Never

Honorable mention :

Resident Evil 4
Virtua Fighter 5
Street Fighter 3

sonic 3 & knuckles (genesis)
tetris (nes)
zelda: wind waker (gcn)
gunstar heroes (genesis)
tony hawk 4 (ps2)

that's probably mine. maybe put a tiger woods on there and we'd be complete. most of the games i play nowadays are the kind i can pick up and play real quick, ie tony hawk/tiger woods/racing/puzzle/etc.

Legacy of Kain is a good series, did you know about the first one the 2d one "Blood Omen"? the classic 3/4 view. The game that came out in 96/97 for ps1/pc. And of course my favorite game in the series is Soul Reaver for DC.

btw. *Golf clap* you're punctuation is improving. :)

blood omen is my favorite game in the series. i loved it so much i would just play the beginning to see how many soldiers i could kill before my imminent death(right when you walk out of the tavern). i actually recorded myself playing and beating the entire game. i want to do the same to the rest of the series.although blood omen 2 wasnt quite as good as the rest of the series.

My neural net processor does not meet the spec requirements to compute such a question.
