Hands down Adventure. If it is a good adventure game, it is like a good book. Granted if it is a bad one it can be really bad.

My three favorites are platforming, FPS, and fighting. Platformers prevail, however.

Rhythm. Osu Tatake Ouendan, DJ Max Portable, Gitaroo Man, and so on.
I also like graphic adventures from the Sierra/Lucasarts days.

Personally, I prefer Fighting games, I dunno why but I guess I like the excitement and the fast pacing of the games. If I am not playing Fighting games, I would be playing Adventure games.
