From white to yellow...

I like white systems. Very appealing and all but there is a reason why objects that we touch (I.e. Controllers) should never be white. The rubber parts of the joysticks on both the nunchuck and classic controller are turning yellow. Is there a way to fix this?

Just to save you some pain try the search at the top first. Some of the people here are very touchy about seeing the same topic again and again. Sorry If it seems like I am too. Now for the rubber parts use the same method I do for playing Guitar. Wash your hands before you play and don't eat finger foods while playing and it will take longer to yellow. The hands always let out oils so it still will eventually happen. A little bit of water/bleach couldn't hurt. Remeber not to dry it out it could crack.

Sounds like he's talking about Wii controllers, which shouldn't be old enough yet to yellow from oxidation. And retrobrite is usually used on plastic, not rubber. So I'm not sure it's the same problem, probably just grime building up. I'd hesitate to put rubber parts under a UV lamp, as that could accelerate aging and cracking. A little peroxide probably wouldn't hurt though.

I would just try some heavy duty soap and water with a moist rag. Just be careful not to get water in the controller obviously. Maybe use a little boraxo or something like that. Something that has a little bit of abrasives to it.

I've found that a little dab of nail polish remover (*cringes*) can be useful for removing tough grime on controllers.

Argh; I've got the Cillit Bang song stuck in my head now..

That topic/link seems it's for plastics. I'm interested in rubber, i.e. Controllers. I don't have a problem with other white systems/controllers because they are plastic based and far from old.

Yeah Hatta it's the wii controllers. Everything is snowy white with that minor rubber cap of sorts turning yellow. It's quite disgusting ya know.

Nail polish is one item I never thought of. I'll try that out thanks!

It could just be absorbing dirt and oil like other controllers, just showing it badly because its white. I've gotten controllers I've refurbished with rubber caps on the analog sticks that sort of 'weep' oil if they've been sitting a while. Playstation controllers seem to do it the worst. A paper towel that's damp (not dripping) with alchohol might help and not be as toxic as acetone.

Just clean your damn controllers you dirty fuck. Try washing your hands once in a while! I cringe at the thought of all the bacteria that has built up on your controllers. How many times have you eaten whilst gaming? You would be at less risk if you ate off your toilet seat, unless that doesn't get cleaned either...

I so hope that was a joke. I always wash my hands before I game. Don't perceive me as a little child who is snotty does what he wants. I'm very clean and be more and happy to take pictures of everything I own and show you that everything is kept in pristine condition. But then again why should I. I'm not here to impress you since you are of no importance in my life. You know, when you assume, you make and ass out of you, and in this case, just plain you.

I'm sorry I just don't understand how a controller could go yellow from use unless it's being used with dirty hands. Seems very strange. The rubber coating on the Wii nunchuck/GC analogue sticks would appear to attract dirt and make it stick so it seems perplexing that if no dirt was involved that it would still make them discolour. Are they definitely official nunchucks or chinese copies?

Yes I was being overly dramatic for comedic effect, looks like it totally backfired on me.
