Zipit Z2

Post by fastbilly1 »

Anyone hack one of these? I know they dropped in price at Target severely recently (some reports of down to $13). Im hitting up Target in an hour in hopes of getting one.

I have no use for it in its initial form, however when I saw these articles I got interested:

An acquaintance of mine mentioned it to me a few days ago, since I was interested in the first Zipit for RPG purposes (I was going to buy them for GM to player notes via AIM). He was running debian and said that I could get an ok typing program on it, but today when looking into it I am far more interested in either hitchhikers guiding it or playing dos games. They have a minisd card slot that supports up to 4 gigs (though some 8 gigs work aswell). SSI and infocom games in my pocket may be a bad thing.

Looks cool, my Target never has any of the reported good deals though. I wonder what kind of chipset it has.

Its got a 300mhz Xscale processor and 32mb ram. Looks like an interesting little device. If it would turn into a portable 286 (with sound) id be in.

Cool, if anyone does find these for $13 and doesn't mind picking up an extra I will reimburse + shipping and a couple bucks for the trouble. I will check my target as well..if there are any I will grab what is available and offer the same.

Wow that's awesome. I'll be sure to check out my target. I guess it will be in the toys?

I agree, this does look interesting. SevinOSeven told me he saw Crysis for $7 in the PC games at Target. I guess I'm gonna go look this weekend too.

There's a list of Targets where this thing is available on their website. They don't have it at either of the convenient targets for me, maybe I'll drive across town this weekend.

Hmm, either they're out or I missed them at mine.

No luck on Far Cry 2 cheap either. But There were 10 or so copies of Heavenly Guardian for $7.48
