Is anyone trying to complete an entire game set....

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I generally pick certain themes to collect... like I said above, GBA Classic NES series for instance. Or the Capcom Five/Four. Or something like that.

I wouldn't because I would rather collect stuff I actually like to play besides their is way too many crap games, those are the easiest to find  To be realistic I think most of us don't have space for the entire collection not to mention the cost of RPGs are way too much.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

You would be surprised how many of the crap games are hard to find. It is easier to find a copy of Earthbound or Chrono Trigger than it is Super Bases Loaded. At least where I am from. There are a lot of these misconceptions about certain games. It is becoming more and more obvious to me that some of the worst games are also the hardest to find.

My local store has multiple copies of Mario RPG but I am still waiting for them to get a Tommy Lasorda Baseball for the Genesis. Figure that one out. LOL.

In good time, in good time. I'd like to be closer to completion before I snap a pic. I have been waiting to update my "Game Room" post for a while now, but there's always just a few more things I want to pick up first...

Sweet. Let me know if you're looking to part with it.

I've spent the better part of the last decade trying to get all of the original NES games. At last count I was slightly over 450. It has taken me this long because I forced myself to not buy any games off of ebay, so everything in my collection was found in the "wild".

That actually doesn't surprise me at all. The games that are really ass probably don't sell well, and when people do get them they're just as likely to throw them away as they are to try and pawn them off on a game store (assuming said store would take it). Don't forget, back in the 16 bit era you didn't have a chain as pervasive as Gamestop encouraging you to trade in your stuff. There were places like Funcoland but they weren't as mainstream as Gamestop is today.

If I win the lottery it might interest me, but otherwise no way. Can't justify buying crap games, and every system has plenty of crap games. The only systems I could maybe attempt it for would be 32x or virtual boy, but I don't play my virtual boy, and I'm not a fan of the crappy cardboard 32X boxes, or some of the really expensive rare games like spiderman.

Collecting every good game ever made for every system is so much more valuable and just as impressive as just collecting the good, the bad and the ugly of a single system.

I've crossed the line a bit with my controller collection, but the line that I've had to convince myself not to cross is getting R.O.B. It's really just the inflated price for a complete set that's kept me from buying it (I've bid on it twice), but I know if I ended up with it I'd end up justifying all kinds of crap controllers (Power Glove, totally).

The two genres I come closest to collecting for are shmups and rhythm games. Shmups are the one genre I seek out on every single console I own, and in part because of my controller collection, I have enough rhythm games where it really wouldn't be too hard to collect the bunch and a good deal of them would have real value to me. There's too many garbage shmups, plus a few which are $400-1000 in price, that I couldn't justify it. I wouldn't get around to doing either before I finish my "every great game ever" collection anyway.

I don't collect, but if I were to, I'd want to aim for something easy like Virtual Boy. Or something franchise-based, like every Mario title or Pokemon game.
