I take protection very seriously, and I can think of nothing more serious and effective than Droid Party's suggestion of a bread bag turned inside out. Win.

Xonticus, I'm going to give Avast a shot soon, I like the sound of it, especially that it doesn't leave much of a footprint. AVG wasn't bad, but my previous computer had very minimal ram and I'd be on the computer at 4am and a scan would start and the whole computer would just come to a stand still of ineffectiveness, often leading me to cancel the scan or close the program, which isn't a good sign for a virus program.

Other than malware bytes and such for cleaning up if something gets in, I've been using Nod32 since I got some crap on my machine a few months ago. I went ahead and sprung for a subscription. Its been keeping me clean and had had no noticable affect on performance.

For those using any flavor of Norton or McAfee, please for the love of... get that bloated shit off your machines even if you're 2 months into a year subscription. They used to be good a long time ago, but they are terrible terrible resource hogs that people only buy because they're recognizable names.
