NES Game Genie

Post by Axl »

If you have a new 72 pin connector in your NES is a Game Genie bad for it? I know that if you have worn out pins the game genie can really help because it pushes against the pins differently. So my question is does having it it with new, tight pins wear then down faster?

Yeah, I guess it would be slightly worse for the connector than a regular game. However, I think the difference is going to be pretty minor. My NES was around twenty years old the first time I replaced the 72-pin connector. Given how cheap they are, and the long life regardless of the use of Game Genie, I wouldn't worry about it.

I used my Game Genie on my new pin connector a few times and it still has a death grip. It should be OK to use if it's every once in a while.

Think of it this way: every time you use your game genie, your connector dies just a little bit.

Well the fact that they wreck your cart slot and pin connector seems to come to mind.

Yeah, Game Genies'll bend those pins back real nice. But maybe that was partly just me as a little kid slamming it into the console at optimal force.

What about for occasional use? Like once in a great while?
