The new Blizzard project. Place your bets now!

So what do you guys think it's going to be? Many people are voting on StarCraft 2 or a StarCraft MMO. While I think these are both probable and logical in a business sense, I'm going to go out on a limb here and vote for a World of Warcraft cell phone game of some sort. It sounds retarded, but then again, so is WoW; and WoW sells. I think it would sell on cell phones very well, no matter how stripped down it appeared. If WoW players were given a means of continuing to raise their characters from mobile locations at any time during the day, they would do it. All I have to go on is one little news piece a while back regarding Blizzard hiring people for a mobile project of some sort.

Of course, the selfish man inside me wishes Blizzard would just develop a new franchise in a new genre. Ya know, a genre I can actually enjoy? I'd love to see them bring their level of polish and support over to a title that's actually FUN to play.

Same, I want a RTS. MMOs take too much time and money.

I'm hoping for Starcraft 2 ... just about everyone is... I mean why else would they make a major announcement in the Starcraft capital of the world?

If you haven't enjoyed any games they have put out in 14 years, much less the genres, then you probably should not care.

I care because, like I already stated, I notice the amount of effort they put into their games. The engines are very optimized, the art and designs are beautiful and dynamic, the voice acting and music are top notch, the cutscenes are always some of the best CGI the world has seen. I just basically don't like RTS and MMO games, and I just wish they'd try a new genre.

I can bet anything it will be an MMO... with the amount of RTS games out there it really isn't a money maker. MMO is guaranteed cash in their pocket (as WoW showed them so well). I could only guess though.

Actually I think the neverending flood of RTSes has kind of died down. This would actually be a good time to toss out a new one. Either way, Starcraft 2 would definitely be guaranteed cash in their pockets.

It could also be Diablo 3. People would orgasm over that too.

Now you would think so. But the more I imagined it, the more complicated that decision appeared. For example, WoW is crazy popular. It has many lvl70 players who only keep playing because they have nothing else to do. It's common knowledge, that most Warcraft fans are also Starcraft fans. Now say Starcraft MMO comes out. A whole bunch of those lvl70 WoWers are going to be asking themselves if it's time to switch over to the new stuff. As they do this, Blizzard will not be getting additional income; but rather continued income, which one could argue would have been continuous anyways.

Thats just one example. Other arguments could be that WoW has penetrated the market so thickly, that StarCraft would never possibly become as huge. People probably dont have it in them to start a new MMO.

Only reason I tend to believe its not going to be an MMO is they are announcing it in Korea.
