firered/leafgreen would be worth a playthrough. i spent many hours on my old SP playing the original red version, and this was when i was 20, like 5 years after the craze.

really? I see used Pokemon games all the time. But I'm 28 myself, so I have that same aversion to even trying them.

When the prices are so cheap, why not just consider it like a rental until you can afford the physical version?
