I had forgotten I could get an external optical drive if I really wanted one, so that may be a good option which would make netbooks more suitable.
Someone recommended to me the HP Mini 311

The only thing I notice is that is only has 1GB of RAM, and I'm not sure about being able to upgrade to Windows 7 (or if the 1gb would be enough ram if i did)
I'll look at think pads soon.

What laptop/computer websites ship worldwide? All I know is tiger direct.
Tiger Direct doesn't currently carry the HP Mini 311 or some of the thinkpads you guys have mentioned - do you know any websites that do? Or just other websites to give me more options?
