Hey Guys,
Im interested in buying a modchip for my PSX. I was looking at this page:
http://www.modchipoutlet.com/psxmodchips.htm
The 'Breaker Pro' looks like an ideal solution, seeing how I have no experience modding or soldering. If they product sucks, then I have some friends which are pretty well versed with soldering so I could get the job done if need be.
So which product do you all recommend? It doesnt have to be one from the page I linked to. Also, how easy is it to burn 'backups'?
Thanks In Advance.

I have a similar device to the breaker pro, and it works well. Keep in mind that your PSX has to be a model with a parallel port to use it.

I'd say drop a PM to SnowKitty and talk to him.
As for a particular chip, SnowKitty sold me a Multi Mode 3chip and it's been 100% with any and all games I've tried so far.

Does this modchip help with the swap method or does it self boot?
Re: PSX modchip
It's a cartridge that plugs into the parallel port of the PSX. So if your PSX doesn't have a parallel port on the back then this method is no good.
It's basically an action replay cartridge that can allow cheats in games, but also doubles up as allowing you to play copies and imports. The system boots up from the cartridge, you put in an original disc, wait for the disc to stop spinning then put your copy/import disc in and then boot the system. The system will then boot your game as if it was a genuine/correct region disc.
Personally the PSX modchip is a piece of cake to install, I used to do them for my friends when I was 15. You have to be a complete idiot not to be able to install them. The solder points (as far as consoles go) are HUGE. Practice on a bit of old wire or an old radio or something, it's how I learnt, I used to break traces and then solder a wire between the points to make it work again. Practice, practice, practice.

Re: PSX modchip
I personally use a parallel chip to do the swap trick as my console is painted and I don't want to risk damaging the paintjob by opening it up. But Niode's right; installing a chip is probably the best way to go on a stock PSX.

The Multi Mode 3 I have is completely self boot, and plays even all of the later heavily protected titles without a hitch.GamerMON wrote:Does this modchip help with the swap method or does it self boot?

Re: PSX modchip
Yep definitely get a multi mode stealth chip. It's the easiest hassle free way of getting copies to work. There's a little work in soldering, but like i've said, it's not the hardest soldering job to do. In fact it's the easiest console you can modchip.

yep, it's pretty much the best chip firmware for PSX. i can also do installs if you can't solder.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:The Multi Mode 3 I have is completely self boot, and plays even all of the later heavily protected titles without a hitch.GamerMON wrote:Does this modchip help with the swap method or does it self boot?
