Ok guys I'm about to finally get my hands on a Namco Arcade Stick and an official Japanese Saturn Virtua Stick (The white one with green buttons.) and need some modding advice.
As both of these sticks are nearing 13-15 years old I'm thinking about replacing either the sticks and buttons if they show signs of any heavy wear. What would be the best way to go about doing this, and has anyone here modded these two particular sticks before?
Buttons seem to be pretty straight forward and either pop-in/pop-out or solder-in/out but any advice would be helpful as this is my first stick project. Sticks I'm guessing are the same sort of process as buttons?
Also I've heard that the Namco Stick can be a real bitch to mod sometimes and either requires physically modifying the case or reassembling the stick with the original post and ball but using the new stick's switches and gate.
Anyway, any help I can get would be great guys!

Re: Arcade Stick Mods
I can only speak for the Namco stick, but you're going to be damn stoked when you get your hands on that baby. Haha.
As you said, the Namco stick is pretty difficult to mod because of it's size and space issues. I wouldn't recommend swapping out any of it's parts, as you'd risk having to cut holes in it and such. Honestly, I found it easier just to open it up and give it a nice cleaning, to make sure the buttons don't stick, and stretch out the spring a little if the stick is feeling loose.
Anyway, have fun!

Re: Arcade Stick Mods
Ive never modded either of those sticks but I think the general consensus on the namco stick is that its stock parts are pretty damn good. Just to be sure, we are talking about the ps1 namco stick with yellow buttons right? Also, If you're looking for arcade parts ive got six brand new green sanwa buttons and a brand new seimitsu ls-32 stick that im not doing anything with.

Re: Arcade Stick Mods
Yeah, I'm talking about the incredibly amazing PSX Namco Arcade stick in all it's yellow and black glory. I'm only going to mod it if it's past the point of no return on wear though.toredauei wrote:Ive never modded either of those sticks but I think the general consensus on the namco stick is that its stock parts are pretty damn good. I may be interested in the green Sanwa buttons and LS-32 for the Saturn Virtua Stick, but I need a price quote and some help with modding tips.

Re: Arcade Stick Mods
howdy Extreme , see what you can dig up here and then make an account over at SRK.
They are highly skilled when it comes to Arcade Sticks whether its building them from scratch or modding an existing one , etc........
When you make a Thread over there make it descriptive and detailed , you will get a better response that way.
ie ' Need help in Modding Namco Stick with Sanwa Parts '

Re: Arcade Stick Mods
Id be willing to sell the set for a 40 dollars shipped. That would include some extra freebie things such as ball tops and smaller sized buttons. We can discuss further via pm if you want details.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote: I may be interested in the green Sanwa buttons and LS-32 for the Saturn Virtua Stick, but I need a price quote and some help with modding tips.
