Give it a read, it looks at the hardware in some depth and then talks about some of the more iconic games for the system. Quite a good read and the amount of love of the console in the comments is quite surprising. There's not one negative post about the DC. Which always a good thing.

Re: Bit-Tech remembers the Dreamcast
Good article. I'm surprised they failed to mention about the Dreamcast's keyboard and mouse support. It's a must for Quake 3: Arena (or any FPS on the DC). Thanks for the link!
Re: Bit-Tech remembers the Dreamcast
Yeah that's one thing that annoyed me about it, they go on about saying the controls sucked, not when you use a keyboard and mouse they don't, It's identical to the PC version. The DC version is far superior to the PS2 version as well, thanks to the DC's better video ram, the textures are almost spot on. The PS2 version on the other hand is a mushy, sluggish mess.

Durr, Bit-Tech, of course a game being played without the peripherals will not control as well. Without the microphone, Seaman is an awful game.Niode wrote:Yeah that's one thing that annoyed me about it, they go on about saying the controls sucked, not when you use a keyboard and mouse they don't, It's identical to the PC version. Re: Bit-Tech remembers the Dreamcast
Problem with using a keyboard and mouse for active gaming on a console is the space needed to do it with any degree of comfort. If you have to use a keyboard and mouse to play a DC game then you are looking at using a table and chair to use them properly, not slouched in your couch with a controller; you may as well use the PC instead!

Re: Bit-Tech remembers the Dreamcast
Untrue. As I type this I am slouched on a couch with the forums on my TV screen. Really the issue is the DC mouse is a trackball, not an optical, so it's much harder to use on a soft surface like a couch cushion. But you can fix that with a good hard mousepad.

I used to play Quake 3 on my DC all the time, and for hours on end. The way I used to do it was have the keyboard on my lap and then use the box for the keyboard at my side with the mouse on it and a nice mousemat, worked perfectly well.
