Need a break
Well...its that time, I am taking a break from retro gaming. The rest of my nintendo stuff is going up on craigslist, and chase the chuckwagon. Feel free to look for it showign up in a day or so, lifeabsence is my account on that site.
Its nothing to do with the forum, but...I started collecting and joined this site...after that...I stopped playing games all together, which...sucks considering how much I enjoy it. So, to everyone be safe and enjoy gaming, I will talk to you guys soon. This is not a good bye just a cya later.

Re: Need a break
Ya I just need a break, I miss playing games, and everytime I turn around there is something on here I want to collect for or just try out...and I never have a chance to just...enjoy. I need to get the bug out of me that says BUY BUY BUY, and start playing playing playing. I have had cod4 sinse it came out...all I did was play it online time to time, 2 nights ago I actually beat it...felt great, I miss that feeling.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:..................NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe consider it a...I just need to stop putting so much time into the forum? I dont know, I know I wont be gone for good, I just dont want my account deleted if I am not around for a couple weeks or anything.

Re: Need a break
Nah, it's cool. We won't delete your account. I realized a few months back that I'd been spending more time writing about games then actually playing them, so I sat down and seriously thought about it for a while. I asked myself: what did I really want to collect, and what did I really want to play?
I ended up deciding on grabbing more SNES carts for the collection because I enjoy SNES games, along with certain games that I've been meaning to grab for a while(such as Silent Hill, replacing a copy I used to own from several years ago).
As for playing, I realized that I really desired a PC first person shooter, so I took some time out and looked at what I'd missed over the last few years. When I found some on sale or in anthology packs for cheap, I bought a few and I've been playing ever since. In the last couple of months, I've run myself through these games:
Crysis
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (and both expansions)
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault
Painkiller (and the Battle Out of Hell expansion)
Wolfenstein
I've also grabbed a few others(such as what I'm currently playing, Call of Juarez...I have mixed feelings on it) so I can continue playing until I've sated my desire, and then will move on, probably back to fighting or survival horror. Truthfully, Backloggery.com has helped me play my games, since it's shown me how much I haven't actually beaten. That said, it does tend to make me want to beat my games, as opposed to taking my time to enjoy them. I find I avoid playing longer games because of it.
I think what you should do is seriously contemplate what kind of game you want to buy, and then check if you already own one in that genre. If not, buy one, but focus on it. If you enjoy it and want more, stay with that genre for a little while and collect around that, though don't overdo it. We don't want to drive anyone away, especially since you're a great member of the community here.

Re: Need a break
Ah yes, the curse of retro communities. You end up spending more time talking about and hording games then actually playing them.
Hence my own hiatus... very long hiatus. Shit I bet none of you people even know me.
Hrmm...
should I start up the LoD rant machine? Show these new guys what classic Racket is all about?
Oh wait, you guys survived Moz...

Truthfully, I sometimes think MrPopo can only sleep at night after reading one of your rants. He wanders around here all bleary-eyed, screaming "I need an LoD rant! Where's my LoD rant?!?!" It's like a crack addict that can't get his medicine.lordofduct wrote:should I start up the LoD rant machine? Show these new guys what classic Racket is all about?

Re: Need a break
That was the main thing, I just dont want my account deleted if I am not around for a couple weeks at a time. For the main reason being that I do plan on coming back and sticking around.
Trust me no one here is running me off....I am to pigheaded to just be pushed off a forum lol. Its hard to find just one system I enjoy...which is why collecting just takes up all my time...I can name probly 30 games for EVERY system, including next gen consoles. So...it just keeps going round and round and round. I thoguht maybe if I took more time and just played some of everything I have...maybe I could start completing games, and which if I do...I wouldnt be on here nearly as much considering work and family, so...I just didnt want to sign on one day and...poof gone.

Re: Need a break
Yeah, don't worry. It'll be here when you get back.
And I suggest you set up a backloggery.com account if you don't have one already and start considering what you've got beaten and what you haven't. If you'd like to see one, here's mine:
http://backloggery.com/main.php?user=ack
Plus, you can always "friend" me on it so I can check out your stuff and make suggestions as to what to check out next.
