Has anyone modded a Super Gameboy to either have the extension port or so it fits inside a standard sized SNES case?
I have never looked in one, I will be looking in one of my spares in a couple hours, but if it is possible to hardwire a game into one in a standard SNES case, I would be very interested. The idea I am pushing for is to have all three Mana titles on one console and uniform, I dont know if it is doable (it probably isnt) but I thought it might be worth looking into.
Thoughts? Bacteria, Ziggy?

Re: Super Gameboy Mods
do you mean that you are trying to put the supergameboy pcb along with a gameboy game pcb into a standard snes cart? I had to re-read your post a few times and thats what I figured you meant :/ Still not exactly sure though.
Re: Super Gameboy Mods
so your trying to make just SNES sized gameboy carts that play in a SNES via the supergameboy inards with the mana cart hardwired into it. interesting.

as for your co-worker, he'll probably look up the definition later and realize he's insipid
but anyways, you thinking of making custom cart labels for your giant gb carts? (if it can be done that is)

Re: Super Gameboy Mods
Thats the plan. There are only a handful of titles I think I would want - Mana,
Donkey Kong 94, Metroid 2, Pokemon, and Links Awakening.
And I use to work hotels. I got out after I had three 24 hour shifts in a row. Since this job is mostly data entry, it only gets tough when we have a couple people off - but the department is only seven people right now. It is also the reason I have only been on chat to talk to Popo apparently all week.

This might actually be doable - thanks to 8bit collective for the comparison shots of the model 1 (right) and model 2(left). I am going to go out on a limb and just say the expansion port mod is not possible by an amateur.

And I should point out, this topic is the first hit for Super Gameboy mods on google.

However that PCB looks pretty tall. I'd say its almost as tall as a SNES cart. It its conna fit, it'd be really close height wise. The socket for the GB cart would have to be undone and moved with wire extensions too, either up or down. If it were to fit it would be close.

The way I would do it is open up the FFA cart, remove the PC, and then hook it up straight to the SGB PCB, removing the GB port in the process. It looks like it's just an angle connector anyway, so it should be relatively easy (though that's a lot of connections to solder). Removing the GB cart slot and the cart around the game will save a lot of space.

I actually meant what you said Mr Popo, my fingers just didn't type all the right information. Still a close fit if it will go.
