Free Mc Boot and slim Ps2?

Post by Kyle »

so i want to instal the freemcboot on my memory card, but I've heard that some slim won't work with it. On the carton it says "SCPH-90004 CB" and under the ps2 "SCPH-90004" and "8c". It's PAL
Can I use the free mc boot?

You need to find out when it was manufactured, if it was manufactured after March 2008 then that had the exploit removed from firmware will not be compatible with freemcboot.

So If you bought it before March 2008 you should be golden, after that date you need to check the manufacture date on the console.

Did you look at the bottom of the PS2? I believe the information would be there along with the serial number.

Yes i did. There's only the Model No., Pal, Serial and the "8c". On the right some text with licencense and "manufactured 2008", but not the exact date.
Maybe just try it? Or can I "destroy" something?

There should be a date code:

From tehskeen http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?p=66267
Simply check the bottom of your PS2. There's a sticker with "SCPH-XXXXX" on it. The number printed on it is your model. Everything lower than SCPH-9000X should work just fine with FMCB. If it's a 9000X model, check the "Date Code" sticker. It has to be 8a or 8b to work with FMCB.
If it isn't don't worry you can still use uLaunchELF and other homebrew programs using SWAP MAGIC provided you can get files onto the memory card you just can't use FMCB.
