Broken PS2 Memory Card

Hey guys, I recently got a 8 mb 1st party memory card. When I pop it in to try and delete the existing files it loads up the files and while it's loading it freezes on me. Any ideas how to fix it?

Its probably just dead unfortunately. Flash memory does wear out. Its possible that the contacts are dirty I suppose, but there are only 8 contacts. The cards themselves are pretty simple inside. Just a flash chip, a small controller and a few tiny resistors and caps.

Try to format the card. There is a format utility on action replay max discs. If you have a modded ps2 its easier to obtain.
