I just bought a Retro Duo system from eBay. Been planning on getting one for over a year so I finally decided to do it. Just waiting for it to arrive! I'm just wondering who else has one and what games are known to be incompatible.I heard that certain versions of Mario RPG don't work, but how can I tell different versions apart? Also, does it play original Famicom games or just Super Famicom?
I have one of these but it's not hooked up so I can't check Mario RPG but I can answer your other question. It is compatible with Super Famicom games but not with Famicom games.

I never knew these were compatible with Super Famicom games! I may actually have to pick one up now.

It's designed for the USA versions but they didn't bother to add the little plastic nubs inside the case to block out Super Famicom games. Since Super Famicom cartriges are smaller than SNES cartridges, they fit. Famicom cartridges won't work since the Retro Duo is using the USA pin layout.

Yes they are much more reliable than the toaster style NES systems as there is much less dust build up. Also, if anyone is interested in buying a retro duo on the cheap ive got one in black and red that im looking to get rid of PM me if youre interested.

If you have a Game Genie for SNES you can use it to play Super Famicom games as well.
I have one and I'm very happy with it. I use it to run my NTSC SNES games rather than using an adapter on my PAL SNES.
The only NES game I had problems with is "Rolling Thunder" which refuses to run properly. I still have to check the game on my NES, so it could be the cart itself.
One weird problem I have is that when I try to play NES games using the supplied controllers, the button mapping is completely off. Up becomes Start, A becomes Left, etc. This is true for all my NES games. I solved the problem by using an original SNES pad which gives me no trouble.
