I think I know that kid... The brother looked somewhat familiar, and the freak out kid looks like this crazy ADHD guy I knew. Moved to his moms house a few years ago.

Anyway, this video has to have been posted here at least once before.

On the other hand... Who's heard the rumors of people losing their WoW (or similar) data and committing suicide? I swear, WoW turns people into something not human.

indeed i agree. all those countless hours wasted on mmo's. that isn't to say i don't like certain one's its just i was never hardcore about them and never really got addicted. poor saps.

Did you hear that story about the kid who failed a test and committed suicide? The only reason a WoW story gets publicized is that it's sensational. WoW doesn't turn people crazy. It just attracts the crazy people and gives the media a nice target for their crazy.

With millions of players it's possible that someone might do something so absurdly irrational as committing suicide over a video game, but I tend to doubt it. I've played FFXI for about six years now, and while the game has a small fraction of the population of WoW, there are characters in FFXI that have put far more effort than anyone in WoW could have managed (over five years worth of steady, excessive, daily playing) who lost their characters about nine months ago, and not one of them freaked out even remotely to the level as the kid in the video, nevertheless suicide.

Again, a population of over 16-20 times as many subscriptions would raise the probabilities quite a bit, but I'm still extremely doubtful. But who knows. I should never doubt the potential of morons.
