The 2600 add-on is such an interesting historical relic. Can you imagine the fanboy nerd rage and monstrous corporate legal battles that would ensue these days if the Playstation 3 released a 360 add on to let you play Xbox games on your PS3?
The funny thing is, my perception back then (remember I was quite a young lad) was that if you had a colecovision, the 2600 adapter was a must.

And if it moved more units, I think you just gave Sony their best idea this generation :)

I had one back in the day, 1984 or so. Great ports of Donkey Kong, Mr. Do! and DK Jr. I also used to play the Smurf's game quite a bit. Yeah, I know... Smurfs...

The 2600 expansion unit was pretty slick, though it made the system take up even more space.

I sure don't miss the days when it was "in" to have a keypad on your controller...

I used to have one. I vaguely remember it because I was so young. The only games I do remember playing for it were Frogger, Burgertime and this boxing game where the boxers blocked with sticks and when someone got punched it sounded like a fart. I still have no idea what the game was called though.
