GSZX1337, quit being a douche and calm the fuck down. I DID GOOGLE SEARCH IT. I wanted to see if anyone ON HERE had any luck/experience first hand using a technique, instead of randomly trusting some crack on the internet.

Mod_Man_Extreme, I appreciate directing me to the link above, but the post from a couple months ago spotlights Retr0bright initially, then goes into causes of yellowing. Did you read that thread? Did you read my post? My posting was not asking for causes of yellowing. There's very little about any first hand accounts of using any technique to get rid of yellowing in that thread. I've already read up on what causes it; I was looking for alternatives, first hand uses of Retr0bright, and also had wondered if anyone had used Retr0bright on painted logos and if so, does it take the paint away or bleach it.

As far as locking this thread... There have been almost 200 views in less than 24 hours. I don't think this would be considered a useless thread, or a thread with no interest.

Hell, I could probably get any answer for ANYTHING on racketboy.com forums by just using Google instead of checking on here, but isn't the whole point of this forum to connect to a community with similar interest that you can trust more than random advice on the web? But maybe it's worth getting some crappy, useless advice over some whiny response like "fucking google search it!"

There is some stuff my dad used to use at his upholstery shop, I believe it was 3M adhesive remover. It took off anything that was foreign to the object itself, I'm not sure how it would work on the yellowing though. May be worth a shot, if I remember correctly, it was fairly cheap, and you can get it a wal-mart. I know for a fact it works great at getting marker/old stickers off of games/consoles.

Hey puke_face, thanks for the info. The yellowing doesn't seem to be foreign, just a chemical change in the plastic - so I'm not sure if it would work, but it's worth looking into. Thanks!

First off quit being hostile and condescending, secondly the thread I linked you to has a link on the first post to the RetroBright webpage which details all of the answers to the questions you're currently asking. If you had bothered to read the RetroBright page or even look at the before and after pictures you would see that it does not remove silkscreened logos at all, but there is a slight chance of fading (not removal) if the plastis is left in the solution for too long.

As for locking the thread I said I wouldn't in my original post as people may have new info to share on the subject, but I will not sit here an be pandered to about how this thread has 200 views and is somehow more important than before; Views don't matter, it's the replies you get that do and you don't seem to have many. Like GSZX1337 said before a Google search or forum search is all that was necessary for you to do.

Now you're a fairly new member, so I decided to cut you some slack before only to have you respond in what I viewed as a condescending manner therefore I am merging your topic with the topic I had linked you to before. Next time just bump up a slightly old topic (within the last year or so) if one exists instead of creating an extra thread.

Why is there always someone posting about Yellow SNESes? I remember posting that Vintage Computing article in at least four other threads. :x

Not that BAD PIXEL should have went off like that but this post would have pissed me off too. It looks like it belongs in the irc help channel for debian linux. I'll stop before I get personal about it or anything...but it was a real d*** move and I imagine it would have pissed off most people.

I wouldn't have said anything but it seems like BAD PIXEL caught a warning and all he was doing was reacting to someone else throwing a stone.

Also, since we are talking about google searches...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe ... q=&aqi=g10

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe ... ag&aqi=g10

Those are all fun. No need to talk about them though as I have already provided google links.

Yeah, BAD PIXEL PM'ed me about that, and I'll admit like I told him that I unfairly pointed out solely his mistake and didn't bother to take GSZX1337's response into account as well.

Remember, I'm new at this guys so I apologize if I've stepped on any toes.

Man people are so defensive and sensitive.

But on track I found that no method truely makes the yellow go away or doesn't damage something on the system and gets it looking like new. I just bought a used SNES not yellowed and thats the best solution for this problem. If you can't find completely non yellowed SNES then find two with different parts yellowed. You put togther the non yellowed parts and voila yours looks like new.

Sorry if that wasn't much help but you will save a lot of time and heartache. You only get one shot.

Or you could throw that fucking ugly system away and get a much nicer Japanese or European model.

Yeah, though a European model needs a real mod or it's gimped, and the Japanese model needs the cart slot widened.
