This is where Nintendo is ahead of the game with Club Nintendo and the registration processes. If you register a game from Nintendo, it is tied to your account permanently. Now I know there are ways around it. I have registered games I don't own (traded for codes) and I know some people who work at stores could get codes from "new" games they opened. But in theory it would work.
