Games that disappointed you the most.

Ill admit, Im not the best at 2d fighters, but I enjoy them alot. But SF4 just didnt have the draw for me. Now after this weekend I may feel differently, I am going to see an old buddy of mine who is excellent at fighting games and said he will show me the ins and outs of it (mainly so I can trounce my coworkers).
Dare I ask, is it Jonesy you're going to go see?

No not Jonesy, a buddy of mine from Highschool. Jonsey is more of a technical fighter anyway. He is one of the best Virtua Fighter players I have ever seen, but he is not that good at the faster games (ie most Capcom fighters).

I gave it many chances, but the graphics and dumbed-down gameplay just really let me down. I know their whole angle about going back to the roots, but it seems to me that games should evolve.
How long exactly did you play it for?

Given that it's been in arcades for a while now, we're still seeing some new advanced tactics coming out of the game even today.

What's entirely ironic about your statement above was that Third Strike was a total flop in arcades in the US (and to a lesser degree, Japan on initial release). It wasn't until YEARS later when people discovered what was really possible that it picked up in popularity.

I think anyone who played the game for a month or two and gave up on it is doing both themselves and the game great disservice. There's a lot more depth to it than first meets the eye. And I'm saying this as one of those people who bagged it quite loudly on first release. I've since gone back and acknowledged I didn't give it a fair go, and am enjoying it greatly now that I've taken an open mind to it.

Oh, Ack reminded me of it by mentioning Dynasty Warriors in another thread: Dynasty Warriors 6

True enough, most of the games are very similar, but this game may be my least favourite Dynasty Warriors. It's OK because it's still Dynasty Warriors, but it feels like a stepdown to me and the most pointless game of the series with the least improvement. They could have added some characters, but instead they removed some. I don't like the camera in the game at all - especially how it is so zoomed out. There's more slowdown. The graphics aren't particularly good, and I like the character designs and fighting styles less than most others in the series.
