craigslist feedback system?
Does anyone know of an external site that has feedback ratings of craigslist users?
I am so sick of getting screwed and dealing with dumbasses on craigslist.
If there isn't a site, do you think it would work to make a site like this? Reporting people by email address or phone number?

The web's first video game public library! http://videogameexperiment.com rents all games for free and sells them for less than Ebay and Amazon! Plus we take anything in on trade-in.
Re: craigslist feedback system?
This might not be very feasible, since craigslist doesn't attach any identifying info to posts, only a temporary email that is different for each post. So you wouldn't know a name, phone number, or real email until you actually contacted them

yeah but most deals don't go down without knowing their name or phone. Once you got that info you could check the site to see if anything bad is attached to them before making the deal

Unfortunately CL just means you're going to have to wade through idiots for the deals and sales. I had some lady with a DC that I called beforehand, drove out, and could hear people inside but they never answered the door. I've had tons of people flake out that said they were coming to get something too. My friend seems to attract people who show up and offer half what the ad said even though he's already giving a good price and they have usually called and agreed to the price. They sit there and waggle the cash expecting him to go for it but he just tells them to go away.
Heck, I've had flakes with Freecycle too. You'd think that someone who responds to an ad for free stuff would bother to show up. I went back and forth 5 times with one lady for a scanner I wanted to give away. She couldn't have lived more than 10-15 minutes away, but she never came.

Thats the stuff I deal with everyday. That is how craigslist is now but why can't it change?Hobie-wan wrote:Unfortunately CL just means you're going to have to wade through idiots for the deals and sales. Maybe my frustrations just pushed me over the edge...

Not to diminish your frustration, but the point of Craigslist is that its essentially like a free community bulletin board, just on the net. If you start adding logins and feedback, then its just an auction site like ebay and it will cost money.videogameexperiment wrote:Thats the stuff I deal with everyday. CL is free and mostly anonymous, so it will attract the bad as well as the good.

I've had good luck with craigslist. Never had a case where someone didn't meet me somewhere or wasn't at home.Hobie-wan wrote:Unfortunately CL just means you're going to have to wade through idiots for the deals and sales. I've posted free stuff on freecycle & craigslist. That's where I get more of the kooks who don't follow through. I just give them one chance and then move on to the next person. None of this back and forth stuff.
I only respond to CL ads where the item is a good deal. In that case, I just give the asking price. A few times I was interested in the item but the price was a little high. Then I would make an offer and then pick up the item if we agreed on the price.

I wasn't trying to say that Craigslist and Freecycle are bad. I've given and gotten great deals. I can just understand the OPs frustration. Auction sites require you to invest a little effort, so you end up with generally better results. Anything that's free is going to attract a few more flies.

I haven't tried Craigslist yet but I have enough frustrations on this board. You hear from people who want you to sell something so you tell them to make an offer and they never get back to you. Or you're trying to deal with someone only to have them suddenly drop off and you never hear from them again. It gets annoying really quickly. Sorry, I know it's the wrong thread but the arguement is the same.

Yeah, I hear you. The same has happened to me. It's very rude in my opinion. The least someone can do is just say that they are no longer interested. Common courtesy. But it's not just this board. Craigslist and Freecycle people can behave similarly.jmbarnes101 wrote:I haven't tried Craigslist yet but I have enough frustrations on this board.
