Games that disappointed you the most.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

COD4 and Sonic the Hedgehog (2007).

COD4 had so much going for it, but a few really glaring problems for me (respawning enemies, needlessly difficult sections). Sonic I knew was a bad game, but even after hearing how bad it was I was still disappointed when played it. I had no idea it was THAT bad.
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more

That game was certainly a letdown after the awesomness of the first one.

World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck (Megadrive/Genesis).

Bought that sucker for AU$90 (about US$75 at the time). We're talking early 90's dollars for a kid with an after-school job cleaning local restaurants and cafes after hours earning less than AU$5 an hour. That was a lot of money, and a lot of hours.

Read all the rave reviews, and took that sucker home with huge expectations. Literally 3 hours, later I'd completed the game. Gorgeous graphics blah blah. Great animation blah blah. Nobody told me the thing was stupid-easy. I'd played and loved "Castle of Illusion" on Master System, and that game was much harder in comparison (several weeks of rock solid gameplay, not mere hours).

I sold it days later for about half price to a friend's younger brother who enjoyed it a whole lot more. On a dollars-per-hour basis however, I still got ripped off.

It still angers me when I see people go on about how great that game was. What I realise now of course was that it was a sign of things to come for the gaming industry as a whole: games that are nice to look at, but lack any real depth or substance. 1993 pretty much represents the year I lost faith in the gaming industry as a whole, and it started with that game.

Sadly most of my mates had the gaming skill of a spider monkey on crack. I did try co-op a few times, but it was mostly a frustrating experience where I spent 90% of the game with my face in my palm.

Growing up in a small country town didn't help things either. My younger sister (who didn't really enjoy gaming) was far better at the game than any of my mates, but didn't enjoy it enough to play regularly. Not to mention even in co-op, together we finished it on our first sitting. Zero replay incentive there too. :(

Star Ocean 4. The game continues to make me rage. Anyone that's played it likely understands why I hate it so much.

i never played 4 yet but i hope you don't find 3 to be any better.

anyways for me every sonic after SA2 (exception of the handheld games).
front mission 4 (its not bad its just hard to get into compared to 3)
soul nomad and the world eaters (also not bad just not as great as i thought)
and that's all i can think of.
