Yeah, I know a lot of folks who would take more interest in the survival horror genre's earlier games if they hadn't all used the tank controls.
While I believe someone previously said Turok 2, I would venture that the PC version suffers even more. And though I can remap the keys to a certain extent, the game just never feels comfortable.

Castlevania on the Gameboy. The jump was always so stiff.

I agree, but there are few games that don't involve some kind of waggling. Marvel Ultimate Alliance had you shack the Wiimote one way for light attack and the other for heavy.
