I found a top-loader NES at a local flea-market, but the guy wants $59... This is the cheapest I've seen one so far, but I haven't seen any at all other than online stores or eBay. I've been looking for one of these for years and it's the first that I've seen in person, but I don't want to get ripped off if they can normally be found for cheaper.
I was thinking about taking some stuff up to him to offer for a trade. I have a Genesis 2, a Playstation, two Playstation controllers, an NES side-loader, GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, a WWE Smackdown! game for the PS2, and two N64 controllers that I would be willing to part with...
I know this is a decision I could make on my own, but I know that a lot of you guys have years of experience, so I figured why not post what I'm thinking here?

Thats how much I paid for mine. You could find it cheaper but probably not in the wild.
If it has the bone controller I would go for it. But it won't look as good as the original nes hooked up, only RF output and it put weird lines on the screen. But a less failure rate.

I'm still hunting for my NES toploader console. As others have said it's not a great deal but also not a total rip off.

Re: $59 a good price for NES toploader console?
I would wait this one out. $59 is pretty pricey for a 15 year old console that you, presumably would not be able to test out at the Flea Market. I would suggest haggling with the guy especially if the system has been there for awhile. I always bring this point up when buying games, usually the first question is, "how long have these been sitting around?" It works great because if he says this thing has been here for awhile then you have an in, if he says I just got it you can talk to him about his other finds and hopefully learn his methodology for buying games and then try and apply it directly to yourself.
I am kind of just rambling but it would be to your advantage if you picked at his brain a little bit. I would also suggest going in there with some quotes from other websites. For instance,
http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-NES-Top-lo ... 286.c0.m14
This one went for $45 shipped and it came with a free game. In this market he should expect to get maybe $30 from it on eBay (after costs). At the very least, demand free games to go with the system.
I guess the point to this rambling nonsense is talk to the man, cut a deal.

I'm heading up there in a few hours to try and talk him down to $50 and a free copy of Metroid. I know he has a TV at his booth so I'll ask him to plug it in to see if it works.millerjm2 wrote: I guess the point to this rambling nonsense is talk to the man, cut a deal.

$59 is a good price if it works. Toploaders usually go for more than that actaually, so yeah test it and if it works get it. But do try to talk him down though. Hell even make shit up like "hmmmmm the controller ports are sorta finicky" shit like that.
