Replacement Battery for PSP-1000 (Please help)

Post by okonomiyaki »

I've got two PSP fats: one is a PSP-1000 from launch day (with cfw installed) and the other is from a few months later, PSP-???? (can't recall the model, but it's fat) with all the official firmware for use with my PS3 - both of their battery packs are getting pretty low so I want to replace them.

I know that there is the official battery pack from Sony, which seems to be a little rare? And then I am sure that there are 3rd party batteries too. I don't mind if I go with a 3rd party battery (even though I always trust 1st party stuff more) - but can anyone recommend either a regular battery replacement or an extended-life battery replacement?

My one requirement is that it can't stick out, I would imagine that some battery replacements might be physically bigger than the default battery - so I don't want some huge clunker.

Help?

Thanks!!

I haven't had any trouble finding official batteries online (e.g, Amazon). They're expensive ($30 or so).

I would be interested in hearing feedback from users regarding 3rd-party batteries that seem to work reasonably well and are not that expensive.

I'd say check at DealExtreme, they've got pretty much everything PSP related that you could need. They're shipping is kind of slow, but you can't beat their prices. Just make sure you read the comments on the products, because sometimes the descriptions are a little off.

Yes, I'm aware of DealExtreme but I'm not sure I would trust buying a battery from them. Has anyone had luck with a 3rd-party battery from China that is pretty close to an official battery but cheaper?

I purchased one 2400mA battery from Deal Extreme and was very unhappy with it. It wouldn't hold a charge at all, so I switched back to the battery that came with my PSP-2000.

What's the best price anyone has found for an official battery?

Same here. I purchased one but sold it after a while, it would show full charge on the psp but unless you knew you just charged it you could not trust it.

Now considering it was $5 it was a good deal and carried it all the time with me as a spare. Sold it for $20. Weird thing my psp is also old ($299 giga pack) and the battery still kicks ass.
