rap song about retro gaming

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

rap song about retro gaming

Post by izdead »

I just wanted to share this song by my favorite hip hop artist 'del the funky homosapien'. And I'm curious if anyone else has heard it.

Del is a retro gamer and an obvious sega fanboy like many here.

The song isn't about games, but Cadence Weapon - Sharks video is all old game references.

Of course if you go looking for Nerdcore Hip Hop a large portion of it it about video games. Some of it is good, some is terrible.

My friend has this album, cost him quite a bit, but there aren't many out there. It's all mixes of mario theme songs from the 8 bit and 16 bit era.

Yeah, I remember that song from way back in high school. Nice to hear all the Sega love. That's a sample from Vampire Savior, too.

Also I like the line "Bernie Stolar dropped the ball with the RAM cartridge". Nothing more hip-hop than that.
My game-related blog.

Heiroglyphics (Del's group) is my favorite group of all time. You have to remember that when Del released that song on "Both Sides of the Brain" the Saturn and PS1 were the main consoles - I don't consider that song about retro stuff.
In older interviews Del stated that he loved Sega's systems because of the 2d Fighters and unique games, and he disliked Sony for games that had that "mass production" feeling.
BUT you are right that Del is a retro gamer check out this freestyle: http://g4tv.com/videos/20697/Freestyle- ... omosapien/
Not bad for a freestyle, and not a bad interview. Del loves him some Sega.

Oh yea, that reminds me, he did an "emo" song about Mario screwing Princess Peach, then having Toad come over for a 3 some...

I love Del. Deltron 3030 is one of the best hiphop albums out there.
