Great games that you wish had better controls...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I think all games with "tank" style controls that don't feature a tank as the main character/vehicle deserve to be this list. I'm talking about the early Resident Evils, Tomb Raider, etc.

It just seems like it would fit - the split screen interface would translate beautifully onto ds, and because ds is quite lo-fi, you could keep the original graphics and sound. It's just something I've got into my head that won't go away. It's not like this will ever happen with the legal minefield surrounding the franchise, but one can always hope. Perhaps the folks at strangebedfellows will give it a go... (visit them to download system shock portable - a windows port of system shock, if you've never played this game)

I know it's jumping the gun a bit, but I'll say Scribblenauts. Awesome game, but if you are trying to move a small object, and you touch just outside of it on accident, you will probably die from moving to there.

Jet Grind Radio

The controls are good but they would be great if they were more responsive

Out of This World could certainly benefit from having tighter controls. So could MediEvil and its sequels.

I'm in your HEAD. Mwahahahahahaha!

Hopefully the ESC thing won't bother me too much when my TotD comes.

Every Compile shooter I've played has had perfect controls. There's never a moment where you feel the game cheated and killed you.

I simply dislike Scribblenauts' control scheme.

Prototype offers WAY too many moves that aren't easy to pull off.

I wanted to get into the Armored Core series but the fact that the robot is controlled by a single axis put me off. Haven't they implemented dual stick control in later sequels?

I've only played 4 and For Answer, but yes, those games do use dual stick. Left stick is forward/back/strafe and right stick is turn/tilt. There's also a pretty good level of lock-on, so it doesn't feel like an FPS (good in my book, as FPS is mouse+keyboard).

Resident evil. I might play these games if the character didn't control like a racecar from an nes game. The new ones went with that gears of war style but the character takes up like the whole left side of the screen and still handles like crap for a game where you're supposed to be running away from a chainsaw wielding zombie. I got killed by him because I was trying to turn around but couldn't see him because the character is too close to the camera.
