Playing Hooky

Post by Luke »

I'm skipping work today and tomorrow, giving myself a nice 4 day weekend. It's always nice to skip work when you aren't sick.

So, I'm going to tackle a few games. I'm thinking Shadow of the Colossus, Indigo Prophecy and even some NCAA Football. I'll also pick up some Laphroig and some brewskis to enjoy, probably a macanudo or two as well.
I'll do the usual cleaning, laundry too, and try to go ahead and finish Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
Sunday will be all about football, hopefully it will be a profitable week.

So, what do you guys do when you play hooky? I usually try to throw in a little traveling, but I'm staying put this time.

I always stay put when I play hooky. TV, Internet, video games, maybe some waffles.

I'm playing hooky today and tomorrow and some next week. I know I have an excuse, but I'm that one guy who doesn't miss work. In 11 years of teaching I have yet to take a sick day until today for the birth of my second child. Don't think that I am full of myself and that's why I stay home, its the opposite - I'm too unorganized for a sub to take over my class, and we get a $400 cash bonus for perfect attendance.

So to answer your question - I guess Ill hang at the hospital and play a little DS when the baby and wife are napping, otherwise I'm holding the baby because once I'm at home the crawling sprintster is my responsiblity while the wife takes care of the newborn.

Yeah, I'm not going to completely slack off, but being able to spend time at home is nice. Really nice.

Come on guys you missed this! Congratz man to teach the youth of today and bring a second child on top of that.

High Five!!!

Gaming for sure. I usually plan on hookey days when a major release is coming out or when the wife and daughter go out of town. I just lay around in the bare minimum pieces of flair and do nothing but game and drink beer.

I very rarely play hookey, but of course I only have to go into work for 15-20 hours a week for 8 months of the year...

Yesterday I stayed home all day and played video games, watched some movies, read, etc. Ain't it the life!

Congratulations man!

I've found that I need to take random days off just to keep from maxing on my vacation days, as I'm single and don't like to travel. Plus, the period from Christmas to New Years almost everyone at work is out of town and the rest of us "work from home". So I essentially get a free week of vacation without having to burn vacation days.
