Great games that you wish had better controls...
What excellent games do you wish had better controls? Whether it be general responsiveness or added abilities which make sense for that type of game.
Of course you may mention games which you believe have perfect controls/control scheme.
As far as games with perfect controls. I would say Sonic 2. Sonic 1 would benefit from the spinball dash move introduced in Sonic 2 (just don't allow it to break walls on its own). I also felt Abe's Oddysee on ps1 had a perfect control scheme that was very responsive.
Although the classic 2d Contra games play fairly well I always thought they'd be perfect for a dual analog controller. I always wanted to be able to run in one direction but shoot in the opposite.

Obviously the Resident Evil series. I can't even play any of the originals after playing RE4. I think all the RE games should be re-released with RE4/5 controls.

This is gonna sound kinda weird but..... Typing of the Dead. I really hate having to press "ESC" to change my target. I don't know how many times I've taken an axe to the face because I wasted 3 seconds frantically jamming "TAB."
Edit: That was really weird. I just went back to the front page and there was a Typing of the Dead topic O_o .

System Shock 1 - PC. Awesome game, terrible FPS controls. Should be redone or for the DS.
Re: Great games that you wish had better controls...
Im all for having System Shock redone but why stop at the ds. A proper pc remake would be awesome.

Grim Fandango, while the game was awesome with its Keyboard controls, it would have kicked ass so much harder with a mouse.

I'm going to actually say the opposite. I wish Resident Evil 4 on the PS2 had better controls.darthmunky wrote:Obviously the Resident Evil series. I can't even play any of the originals after playing RE4. I think all the RE games should be re-released with RE4/5 controls.
Typically, with first-person or third-person shooters, the left thumbstick is used to move forward and back while the right thumbstick is used to turn 360 degrees. On RE4, the Left thumbstick was used for all movement and I didn't like it very much. I also didn't like that you have to hold a button while pressing the thumbstick up in order to run.

Barnyard Blast Swine of The Night
The game is charming, fun, and hilarious, but the controls are ridiculously stiff.

Attempting to control both characters in The World Ends With You required an extra set of eyes and a dual-core brain. it was painful

Strider on the NES.
Might not be a great game, but I do enjoy running through the game once in a while.
