For what it's worth, Sonic Heroes seems to be the one with the least amount of extraneous bullshit. It's just running stages, as far as I can tell. But if you get it the Gamecube version is probably a lot better. The framerate on PS2 takes some serious punches throughout.

Sonic Adventure 2. I played SA1, and other than the sonic levels (and tail levels I guess) which were great, I found the rest of it to be pretty crap. Also the story, voice acting, and graphics were a huge improvement over 1.

It's still a great game, but amy and big the cat, would make you want to stop playing it.

just think of it like Sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2. 1 was great for it's time, but 2 is such a huge improvement, that there's really no point in comparing the 2 (but still a fun game)

sonic heroes again is crap. I wanted to see what would happen with shadow after his death at the end of sonic 2, and they basically kicked the effort SA2, did with it's story, to the nuts. only thing good about SH is it's use of classic sound effects, like the mushroom jumping from sonic and knuckles. that made me smile. also terrible terrible, and completely unplayable bonus stages.

your right that they really did scratch everything that was SA2. but i actually wished shadow stayed dead in SA2. not because i don't like him that's not it at all. more because him dieing at the end of SA2 was actually kinda bad ass to me when i was a kid. i felt that it made the story a lot cooler. bringing him back was a huge mistake no matter how much people wanted him back. also whatever happened to the love connection between rouge and knuckles?
