Steam - Star Wars Republic Commando - Game Saves

Post by cabrando »

Anyone know where the save files are in Vista?

I tried searching/posting on the Steam forums, but it wouldn't let me create a new topic.

I'd check under the Users directory first, then if none of those subfolders look good I'd try Application Data (I can't remember if this is hidden or not).

One thing that bothers me about my Steam games is how they save all over the place. I find save folders in the Windows "My Documents" or "Saved Games" folders or within subfolders of the Steam client and locations of the installed game. I wish everyone would just direct the saves to the games subfolders because it's messing up my nicely organized document folder.

Try opening the "Start" menu and typing in 'Republic Commando' in the search field. You might be able to find your saves that way.

Another possibility is that the game uses Steam Cloud to save the game at an online location, so you can access it across machines.

I'd guess that it depends on the type of game. Pre-Windows XP games would likely save into their own folder, while non-Steam Windows XP games would save into a My Documents subfolder that Microsoft tried to get people to start doing. And then the actual Steam games (which are differentiated from games that happen to be sold through Steam) would be in Steam's save folder.

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried them all with no avail. Except the cloud storage part, I guess I could unplug from the net and see if I can load my game save.

This is frustrating

Woohoo! finally found a search string that led to the answer.

It saves it here:

~\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Star Wars Republic Commando\Game Data\Save
