Small but growing collection.

Post by GrandMasterJimmy »

I don't have near as much stuff as lot's of you guys/girls have but it's growing... slowly :P. I'm 17 and have no real income so it's hard for me to get that much stuff right now, most of what I have were gifts.

By the end of the week, 2 new happy consoles will join my collection, a NES and a Genesis :).

92 Atari 2600 games(Probably at least 15 duplicates)
24 Dreamcast games (There are some loose ones not seen in the pictures)
6 Wii games
1 PS3 game, Yeah! 1 whole game!
6 Genesis games
3 Master System games

1 PS3 game can last a long time! Game on man. Nice atari collection BTW. Glad to also see that instead of buying a second PS3 game you're getting an NES and a Genesis.

Hey man, no shame in that. We all have to start somewhere. Plus, you've got Soul Calibur! Good times!

Yeah, I'd much rather build up a collection of some classics for now.

The Atari games I was very lucky to get. My parents were cleaning out my great Grandmothers basement for her and they found a huge box full of them. Without that I doubt I would have anywhere near as many games.

Glad to hear that your collection is growing. I know the season is almost over, but I would suggest getting to any garage sales that are going on. That's usually the cheapest and most fun way to enlarge your collection.

Yeah I'm hoping the next time I'm out with my parents I see one. I'm also planning to go the Salvation Army this week to stock up on NES/Genesis games, they tend to have tem sometimes. Though I'll only have about $7 left after buying the cables for the Genesis :(

Well, it won't be the best, but if you get an RF box with either the Genesis or NES you can use it with the other as well temporarily. That poor TV needs a clean though, so maybe you're used to everything looking fuzzy. :P

It's a model 2 Genesis, so that won't work sadly :(. But yeah, the TV needs a good clean, I just keep forgetting. Going to do that now. That TV will luckily be replaced this Christmas with a new LCD. Going to get a 21" CRT for all my older consoles too, this TV is about to die.

Oops yeah, I was thinking of a model 1 Genesis since they're generally better. You're not getting a cable at all with yours?

Nice collection so far! It's nice to see another young person who appreciates older consoles. I would highly suggest going to any garage sales and flea markets in your area if you want to expand your collection for cheap. Over the past two weekends I picked up...

N64 with two controllers (joysticks in PERFECT condition!), Mario 64, and Cruisn' USA - $10
Two N64 controllers - $2
Second Generation Sega Genesis with 2 controllers and NBA Jam - $15
Second generation Sega Genesis with Micky Mania and no A/C adapter or R/F cord - $2
Second generation Sega Genesis with no A/C adapter - $3
NES with one controller and Bionic Commando - $25
NES with one controller, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja Gaiden, and Mario/Duckhunt/World Class Track Meet - $15
Two NES Advantage joysticks - $5
Sega Genesis game storage case (never seen this before... really nice, I'll try to post some pics)- $5
Gamecube with controller and Spongebob game - $10
Second generation SNES with two controllers - $20
Sonic 2 Genesis cartridge - $1.50
Gunstar Heroes Genesis cartridge - $5
Hit the Ice Genesis cartridge - $5

I also picked up NBA Jam TE for Genesis for $1, and Super Metroid for SNES for something like $11 from a website.

Sorry, had to copy and paste that from another topic I had it in. But anyway, for a young gamer on a budget, you can't go wrong with a flea market. And don't forget, if you are at a flea market or garage sale, always try to bargain with the dealers a bit. I got most of those systems for at least $10 less then what people had them priced for.
