Im confused...

Post by MaliceValentine »

Im so lost on this subject with 2 games series Zone of Enders and Gungrave.

The Gungrave series fans have told me Overdose sucks and Zone of Enders fans have told me Zone of Enders 1 sucks.

Anyone care to shed some light on these games? Thanks

I'm not familiar with Gungrave, but I am with Zone of the Enders. Zoe 1 is really only notable for the Metal Gear Solid demo that came with it. It's pretty slow, kind of mediocre, and very repetitive. ZoE 2, on the other hand, is beautiful, endlessly inventive, huge amounts of fun, and one of my very favorite games.

While ZOE2 and GG1 are better, I like both games in both series quite a bit.

The "inferior" game in each series is only inferior to the other game, but both of those are still better than many other PS2 games in the same genres.

gungrave i cant tell you because i only played the first one. but zone of the enders is not as good as zone of the enders 2. the first one is short and the main character is a whiney male bitch. the game can be fun and might be worth to check out. you don't need to know much from 1 to understand 2. 2, as stated above is beautiful and briliant. it has a longer run time and fixes alot from the first one. story is cool too.

I love Zone of the Enders 1 even though The Second Runner is the better of the two. The first one has several flaws though, chief among them is that your main character is an annoying little boy that screams and whines a lot. Another thing about it is that the story line feels disjointed and the final battle against Anubis is the most unsatisfying final boss battle ever, which leaves you feeling like you didn't really finish the story. Also, there is a point a little more than halfway through the game where you have to go back and forth between the same few locations a few times, which gets boring and repetitive. Nevertheless, the controls are second to none. Piloting Jehuty feels awesome! No other mech game comes close to being this fun. ZOE is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in this regard. In fact, very few videogames at all have as nice of controls as ZOE. With just a few clicks on an intuitive interface, you will be unleashing wicked robot fury with highly stylized animation. I've played through both ZOE and ZOE2 more than once becaues I love the feel so much. I very rarely give a game a second play thhrough (actually, I don't even give them a a full single playthrough that often, so you can imagine I must really like these games). ZOE2 is a vast improvement on ZOE1 though.

I also have Gungrave and Gungrave:Overdose. I played Overdose first. I really liked Overdose, but the first one was better. Since I played them in that order though, it felt like Gungrave was the sequel that improved on an already good game (overdose). They can both be had for cheap and you'll breeze through them in a few hours time, so either one is worth picking up for a few bucks. I found Gungrave for $2.50 and Overdose for $6. But, they are both high action, bullet wasting fun. Neither game is very deep, but the ultra cool gun battling style is unmatched.
