I recently unearthed my SNES copy of Super Punch-Out!! and found something that really amazed me... The record times that were saved to the cartridge are insane! They honestly seem unattainable when I play now.
I remember playing this game with my dad when I was maybe 11 years old. We had a friendly rivalry and would constantly try to beat each-others record times for every opponent in the game. I would come home from school, and with a triumphant grin he would reveal himself to have shaved a few seconds off one of my records. The next day he would come home from work and I would return the favor, having beat one of his scores by fractions of a second. I can't remember the last time I've been that competitively involved in a game.
I'll have to check the actual times once I get home, and maybe throw some scans up, but these records are seriously crazy. Once I get them up here I was just wondering how they measured up to some others. Who knows? Maybe I'm crazy and my records are horrible...

I seriously can't wait to do stuff like that when I have kids
Re: Super Punch-Out!! record times
About 10 years ago, My brother and I had a similar rivalry with that game. I can't remember our records exactly, but I think we could beat many of the fighters in less than 10 seconds. Some were closer to 6 or 5. I plan on starting to play again and see if I can remember any of our techniques. I'd be interested to see your records. You should compare your records to the world records at twin galaxies. If you remember how to do get good times, you could video tape it and submit the times to them.
Re: Super Punch-Out!! record times
Sorry I haven't actually posted the times yet. I have to head back over to my friends apartment to pick up the cartridge before I can actually check them!
I do know that many scores were in the single digits, some as low as five or six seconds!

My brother and I used to do the same thing with Super Punch Out. It was always so infuriating to sit down to play, then see that my #1 spot had been bumped down a notch (or two or three), then look over and just see him grinning ear to ear. Likewise, we got down to some single digit times on fights.
