Do others on this site collect CD games like I do. I tend to want to play them so I go after the loose disc. I got a Lunar for Sega CD for 5 bucks like this. I got Sonic Adv for dreamcast for a quarter. It was beat to death but I just disc doctored the hell out of it and it works fine.
Dont get me wrong I like case etc but it really does not bother me if it is just a disc only. Why people take em out of case I dont know but it gets me great deals.
I thought about starting a buy sell trade thread for people to post their loose and scratched up discs for cheap sale, any opinions on this or am I just a cheapskate?

Everything I have that's a CD, I have with a case and manual. If it's a cartridge, I am fine with just the cart (plus, getting them with the cardboard boxes is super expensive). THe exception is my DS games are all in cases too...
Re: How I collect me CD games....
Well,
I didn't think to keep the cardboard boxes of my old cartridge games, but ever since well designed cases were implemented, I've been drawn to collecting a game with a case. Disc based games are no exception for me, though if I ever came across a good deal for a cheap disc based game, I'd likely slap it into a CD or DVD case and not think twice. DS games have to come in a case, though. This is changing now that I've discovered The Cover Project.
Peace,
manaman

Well I mostly try to get complete things just to admire the artwork or check out the instructions if I get stuck/ect. but as long as your getting the enjoyment out of them who cares if they are just loose.

That's essentially my stance. I also don't care if I get a Genesis/Master System case, as in those days it seems that most people didn't keep their cases for some reason. I think it wasn't until you had the era of the CD/DVD that can't be held loose (you need at least a wallet) that people started to keep their cases. I personally feel that for any game that ships in a nice case there's no reason for the case to be missing, plus you almost never find a disc only copy of a game that also comes with a manual. And I loves me my manuals.

If I can pick up a loose CD game for like $2, then it's totally worth it to me. Other than that, Cases are basically a requirement.

These are the sort of thing that I only ever see at garage sales, and not really often at that.

I'm exactly the same way. DS games are an exception to the cartridge rule because the cartridges are so small and the boxes are so well made.

Re: How I collect me CD games....
Im pretty much with all you guys. Here's what perplexes me.
People who care about Manuals in their games NOW. I mean, half the manuals are nothing more than the button layouts (which are in game), the seizure warnings, and, if you're lucky, a brief introduction to the game and a list of the characters, weapons, and items (which, in Halo 3's case, is just an example of laziness as it leaves out more than a few things). They are also in black in white now. I don't think I've read through a manual since Metal Gear Solid 2 (with the sick little comic).
I mean, i can kinda understand wanting a full package when you buy something (even though it's really just the game that counts) but when the manual is SOOOOOOO under par, why is it a factor? Maybe someone can explain this to me.
