PS3 & PSP Q&A
PS3 & PSP Q&A
Well then, after a long long break from cyber life I'm back. I recently purchased a PSP and PS3 to sustain my need for gaming for the next couple of years and I must say, i love them both dearly. I've been researching the shite out of both of them and if anyone has questions, feel free to ask! If I get enough questions together I will make a FAQ for this section. You can ask on here or PM me, I'll be checking the forums 5-6 times throughout the day.
I love my DS. It is almost the perfect portable.
I'm interested in the Wii and 360, but I don't think I would use them as much and the price is still too high for me.

$250 is too high? Are talking because of the lack of real "good" software or just simple price?racketboy wrote:I love my DS. It is almost the perfect portable.

As for me, I'm interested in everything else but the PS3. I would say it's pretty early for vote casting for the next gen stuff. But I'm tied with my PSP and DS.

As someone who is obsessed with shiny things, I have all of those but the PS3. The DS has SO many good games at this point I can't even rattle them all off, and it shows no signs of letting up.
The PSP is nice too and I don't regret buying one, but there just aren't enough good games and that shows no signs of letting up either.
I realize the Wii is new but developers really need to pick up the pace. Right now the Wii is a novelty item with a bunch of $50 add-on novelty items, and while I am enjoying the games like Warioware and Cooking Mama, that isn't going to do it for long.
The 360 is finally coming into it's own with enough good games now to make it worth it.
And the PS3 just has too high of a price point and not enough good games. I'll probably wait a couple of price drops and decide then.

I love that Wii has novelty games... the price of those games just isn't nice.
My Wii does nothing more then let me play Super Paper Mario, and it is the BEST party game machine I've ever had. I'm not much on multiplayer games, I hate playing FPSs online, but when I've got 3 or 4 friends over Warioware or something else on Wii is the first damn thing to get pulled out and the Wii-mote isn't put away until 6 in the morning. Any system who can bring together my friends (some of whom HATE videogames... ie girlfriends) is a freakin' God send.
Though I did vote the XBOX 360. This is because I'm not a party gamer, it is just wonderful to have a party game machine for when I have guests. I am notorious for having guests and then going off and playing my 1 player games while they mess around my house. Not very host like of me. But in the time they aren't there I jam out my XBOX 360 most, the marketplace is great, arcade downloads are awesome and I've picked up several games that are really good. Shit 360 got me to even play a shorter... yeah third person (Gears duh...) shooter, but close enough to an FPS that it boggles me I even enjoy the game. That and my new siggy eludes to a hopeful inclusion to the 360 line up.

The PSP is only as good as you want it to be. I modded mine right out of the box and am enjoying custom.. just about everything! I have NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBA, 32X... oh and of course Playstation on there. It's a portable homebrew masterpiece. The systems I listed aren't the only ones out, there is MAME and a fairly decent N64 emu that's still in the works. Not to mention movie files that are around 300-500 MB and a vast supply of shared PSP games all at a special site I like to call heaven... it's the best handheld ever. But that's only if you mod it.
The PS3 isnt lagging far behind when it comes to the glory the PSP has achieved. True it hasn't been hacked yet, but I have around 20 or so movies to choose from that I put on the HDD, as well as a large music library and many downloaded games from the PSN Store. I enjoy being able to pause a movie and well.. go to the bathroom and continue watching it while in there. Then resuming when I get back to the couch. Remote play is wonderful!

Love the DS
I love the DS, I hardly even use the emulators, there is so much good original content for the system, and so much of it is retro flavored. All the final fantasy games alone could take a year for someone who quit their job to play. Currently I am playing FFV, and that game is huge as well as hard, and I have VI waiting in the wings. There is just a amazing amount of amazing games, even just on the GBA side, The DS side also has quite a few games, but what is great about the GBA compability is I can walk into a store, and for 30 bucks walk out with 3 or four great games.
