just some questions about Free MC Boot.
just some questions about Free MC Boot.
So i finally understand it and how to install it. i was able to give some friends it and they are enjoying it a lot. well i just got a second memory card and was thinking of giving it to myself but since i already have a mod chip will it interfere with each other? i obviously wont be using ESR but im still gonna load it on for the system just in case my ps2's mod chip stops working one of these days. also will freemcboot be detected if its in the second slot of the ps2? i hate posting here about this but i have looked all over the internet (using google) and i have used the search function on this site.

Re: just some questions about Free MC Boot.
I haven't used it with a mod chip, so I can't help you there, but yes FCMB will work in the 2nd slot. The only problem I had was with hdld_svr.elf. It looks for it's IP configuration in the first slot only. It was simple enough to open it up with a hex editor and change mc0: to mc1:. Since then that card hasn't left slot 2 of my playstation.

Re: just some questions about Free MC Boot.
i have another question to add on to my questions.
it seems to be fine (i tried it) but it doesn't seem to be detecting the hard drive. it will detect if FMCB is not in it obviously. i figure theres a setting somewhere for this. does anyone know what i could do?
edit: sorry for double posting.

Re: just some questions about Free MC Boot.
I could send you the hdld_svr.elf I edited if you want. It's a lot nicer keeping FCMB in slot 2, and being able to use a clean memory card for games that autosave in slot 1.

Re: just some questions about Free MC Boot.
that would be really nice but i want to know if you by chance used HDloader patcher on it or not. because i plan on doing that too.

Re: just some questions about Free MC Boot.
Do you use HDloader? Suggest you load up the hdloader.elf on your Freemcboot memory card or on a usb stick that way you will not have to load hdloader from a disc and give your lense a break.weasels wrote:So i finally understand it and how to install it. i was able to give some friends it and they are enjoying it a lot. well i just got a second memory card and was thinking of giving it to myself but since i already have a mod chip will it interfere with each other? i obviously wont be using ESR but im still gonna load it on for the system just in case my ps2's mod chip stops working one of these days. also will freemcboot be detected if its in the second slot of the ps2? i hate posting here about this but i have looked all over the internet (using google) and i have used the search function on this site.
I have a modchip and there is no interference as you have tested.
That is unusual, what version of Freemcboot and HDloader? Try accessing the hdd from Ulaunch or SMS.weasels wrote:i have another question to add on to my questions.it seems to be fine (i tried it) but it doesn't seem to be detecting the hard drive. it will detect if FMCB is not in it obviously. i figure theres a setting somewhere for this. does anyone know what i could do?

i use 1.8b for FMCB and i believe i had an old version on it so im gonna now go for 0.8c. but i have yet another problem and i hate to be annoying as hell. for some reason the ps2 doesn't always pick up the ulaunch cd-r I burn. the first one i used that worked on my friends wouldn't work for my other friend so i had to burn another and that worked only the first time two. i burned another one recently and its not working at all.....it can't be the mod chip because it still boots up my cd-r games. is it maybe a bad burn? im using imgburn so maybe that's it....
well i just knowticed something quite interesting. it seems my hard drive is not allowing for the disk to boot.....
out of a whim guess i took out the hard drive and ulaunch booted right up.......i have an official sony hdd so as of now im baffeled.
new edit: ok this is the last one i think i didnt want to double post agian so here i go.
well ulaunch is detecting the HDD. so i messed with a few things and figured that i can just keep hd loader on my usb and access it through Ulaunch. this makes it easier with the memory card in second slot problem. i also tested to see if a normal burned game would work with FMCB in the card slot while having a mod chip. i warn anyone NOT to do this. the game will not boot and the drive makes strange sounds. it doesn't bother me much because the card is only for a back up if my mod chip goes out on me anyways. so now i pretty much understand everything. so thanks for the help and the idea's. i really appreciate it from all of you.
